April News

WOW! I haven't written since March - I don't know if its because I have been busy or just forgotten! Time flies by (this seems to be a reoccurring theme in my life). What has happened since last time?

Well I started my pediatrics rotation at Dell and am almost about to finish it - I only have 1 time left (and its off-unit too - I will probably be going to the OR & ER). My teacher in this class is awesome. I like that he gives us independence and also is interactive and patient with us when we do have questions - never intimidating really. Speaking of teaching, I was also going back and forth between the maternity-public health and maternity-teaching track of my program. I think that I decided to go with the teaching option. Growing up I had always thought about being a teacher and still to this day I think that I would really like it and hopefully be great at it. I know that a lot of teachers and professors have inspired me, so I would like to be that person too for others.

As for adult health clinical, oh my gosh - only one left!!!! WOW. I never thought this day would come. haha. This week was really stressful in adult health. One of my guys was having really low BP issues, my other took a crap ALL over the place, and my third one had a seizure right when I was standing there. Stressful enough? I think so.

I have an adult health test tomorrow that is over stuff from the whole semester. holy cow. I also have a paper due in pedi. We are so close yet so far!! It has almost come full circle for me being in nursing school for a year. CRAZY. I am thankful (almost - haha) everyday for being in this program and getting the opportunity to help others in the capacity that I do. It's weird to think how my life led me in this direction. I probably would not have seen myself here when I graduated HS.

Other than school, I have still been volunteering at the Mothers Milk Bank and that has been great getting to help premie babies by processing milk for them!! I have been hanging out with my friends from school - probably not as much as I had been before, but it works.
